The development of multidimensional tourism, which involves the integrated utilization of economic, social, and environmental capacities, plays a pivotal role in revitalizing rural economies. By fostering employment, enhancing income levels, and promoting local participation, this approach supports a foundation for balanced and sustainable rural development. This study investigates the potential and impacts of multidimensional tourism on the rural economy. Methodologically, the research is applied in purpose and exploratory in nature, utilizing a qualitative grounded theory approach. Data were gathered through both documentary and field methods. The study area is Chaharborj County, with a population of 26,219 and 7,797 households (based on the 2016 national census). The statistical population includes local experts, members of Islamic councils, village administrators, and knowledgeable residents, selected through sequential sampling. Theoretical saturation was reached after conducting 29 semi-structured, in-depth interviews. Data analysis was conducted concurrently with data collection, following Strauss and Corbin’s grounded theory framework. Findings reveal that Chaharborj County, with its rich cultural, historical, and natural assets, religious rituals, and its reputation as a hub for shopping tourism (especially household appliances), has significant potential for multidimensional tourism development. Nonetheless, several barriers were identified, including insufficient infrastructure, environmental degradation, prolonged drought, cultural shifts, and declining governmental support. The expansion of multidimensional tourism has generated multiple positive impacts, such as employment growth, income diversification, revitalization of handicrafts, improved public services and infrastructure, and enhanced cultural interactions. However, negative consequences were also observed, including seasonal employment, cultural disruptions, rising living costs, seasonal migration, environmental pollution, traffic congestion, and rural overcrowding
