Investing in transportation infrastructure is a very important tool for regional development. In this regard, due to its special geographical location, West Azerbaijan province has the potential facilities to focus on the transportation sector and increasing the transit revenues due to the relocation of passengers and cargo. The main goal of this research is to investigate the development trend of the transportation sector of West Azerbaijan province in the years 2017-2021. The method of the current research is applied in terms of goal and has a descriptive-analytical nature, which is used to collect information from the library method. The statistical yearbooks of the Iranian Statistics Center during the years 2017 to 2021 has been used in order to collect the data of this research. The data collection tool of this research is taking note. DIMATEL matrix and DNAP software have been used to determine the level of influence and interrelationships of the research indicators. The analysis of the data collected in this research was done quantitatively and through the VIKOR decision-making model. The statistical data of West Azerbaijan province has been used to form the initial matrix of VIKOR model. The results of the research show that in the transport sector of West Azerbaijan province, we have faced significant progress in terms of infrastructure criteria such as freeway, highway, main road, secondary road and rural asphalt road; And also, according to the results of the VIKOR model, the ranking of the years under review shows that this sector has been in a downward trend due to the Corona virus and the reduction of passengers, travel and transported cargo. But with the containment of the corona virus in the first months of 2021, the statistics of the transportation sector have been on an upward trend.
